Homecare Bed Mattresses

Homecare bed mattresses are intended for the care of bedridden people at home or in hospital. They adapt to the body’s shape and have a waterproof cover. The mattress is chosen by the user’s weight and the risk of pressure ulcers.

Homecare bed mattresses — how to choose

Homecare mattresses are specially intended for the care of patients at home or in hospital. They are made of materials that let the mattress adapt to the body’s shape and stay resilient. A waterproof cover is included.

What to look for

When choosing a mattress for a homecare bed, consider the user’s weight and, above all, the risk of pressure ulcers: from low (I) to very high (IV). This can be assessed, for example, using the Norton scale. Viscoelastic (memory) mattresses provide greater comfort, including for active patients. For a high risk of pressure ulcers, choose an anti-bedsore air-pump mattress.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a suitable mattress?

The main criteria are the user’s weight and the risk of pressure ulcers. For a lower risk a quality care mattress is enough, while for a higher risk an anti-bedsore air-pump mattress is recommended.

Does the mattress have a protective cover?

Yes. Care mattresses come with a waterproof cover that protects the mattress and makes hygiene easier.
